Nairobi, Kenya, July 14th, 2025 – The Jobtech Alliance, in partnership with Na’amal, is proud to announce the launch of the Digital Agency Accelerator in Uganda, a flagship programme under the Jobtech for Refugees Initiative. This programme is designed to integrate refugees into the global digital economy by equipping them with the necessary skills and opportunities to participate in remote, project-based work.

Uganda hosts over 1.7 million refugees, primarily from South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Sudan, and Somalia. While the country has some of the world’s most progressive refugee policies, many displaced individuals continue to face barriers to accessing formal employment and sustainable livelihoods, further compounded by high youth unemployment and limited local job opportunities.

As digital transformation accelerates globally, remote work offers a solution to bridge the employment gap for refugees by enabling displaced individuals to earn income and build careers without being limited by geographic or location-based job markets.

The Digital Agency Accelerator, implemented by Na’amal through their Ecosystem Strengthening Programme, will collaborate with two Ugandan organizations, Refactory and Marifasasa. Together, they will build digital agencies that integrate refugee tech talent and streamline remote project delivery while creating efficient recruitment pathways for refugee professionals. This effort is supported by the Jobtech Alliance’s Jobtech for Refugees initiative and represents a key step in expanding inclusive access to digital livelihoods across East Africa.
